  • Report issues to admins privately if you believe there are rule violations. Do not discuss it in the groups

  • Respect group admins, including their decisions and guidance.
Clarity on Language

Heresy Hammer isn’t afraid to tell it how it is. We like to think we strike a healthy balance between positivity and critical analysis. However, it is a show for adults, and there are times when we use ‘frank’ and ‘choice’ words in our phrasings.

It would therefore be hypocritical of us to ban these kinds of words outright in our Community WhatsApp groups – for example you might say “Wow, those new Saturnine Terminators look fucking huge!” This is something we would and could say on the show, and we think it is generally okay to say in our community.

For each of us, the colloquial language we use is about our experiences growing up, who we talk to regularly and the types of conversations we would typically have with our friends and colleagues. The boundaries on the type of language we use will be different for each of us. By entering our Community WhatsApp groups, you are agreeing to be part of a community where you need to take other people, as well as yourself, into account.

Words when used as ‘put downs’ are not okay to use in the Community Groups. This is partly about common courtesy and partly to provide a safe space for people to enjoy a hobby community.

For example, we would prefer you to say things like “That’s an interesting opinion, have you considered X”, as opposed to some of the typical, insulting and harsh language one might experience online when discussing differences of opinion.

We also want everyone to feel comfortable sharing their experiences, regardless of how much of the setting, game or hobby they’ve partaken in. We expect all of our users to be welcoming, and when a new person joins or somebody shares their struggles with understanding rules/lore/painting techniques, to react and reply in a way that is in keeping with the community spirit.

Our aim here is not to patronise but to offer clarity. We want the WhatsApp Groups to be a place of common cause and a shared love of The Horus Heresy. If you can’t abide by these rules, then please consider if our Heresy Hammer WhatsApp groups are the right place for you.

3D printing Group Rules & Rationale

3D printing is a hobby and is ultimately here to stay. Since the creation of Heresy Hammer, many digital sculptors and businesses that provide services have supported us in our endeavours. We actively encourage you to share your experiences, troubleshooting questions, answers and pictures of your 3D prints in this group.

However, there is also a balance to strike between supporting 3D printing and realising that it is now an important aspect of the hobby while also not proactively encouraging the outright infringement on IP and copyright laws.

For this reason, you may NOT, under any circumstances, share direct links to STL files or upload STL files to the Heresy Hammer Community WhatsApp groups. If you do, these links and/or files will be removed, and you will be given a warning.

We thank you for understanding.
